The Languages of From the Cradle Imported February 16, 2010
Back to stats index

For statistical purposes, there are five languages on From the Cradle, one for each of the species. Of course, each species in fact has several languages, but the ones listed on the +stats command are those meant to be representative of the parts of a species that would bother travelling all the way out to Persephone. A value of Superb or better is considered fluency, while anything less indicates a lesser ability with the language: Good is speaking the language well with a few mistakes, Fair is 'can get by', Mediocre is barely enough to be useful, Poor is basically a few phrases, and Terrible indicates nothing at all.

Please note that just because you have a high ranking in a language doesn't mean you necessarily can speak it. For instance, the Captab language is based off of colour and light and is not verbal at all. Therefore, if a human has Superb in Language: Captab, he can understand the Captab when he makes those colours at him, but physically is incapable of responding in kind. Written communication, however, is very much possible.

By default, all characters start with Superb in Language: Human, as well as Superb in their native tongue if they are an alien. These would essentially be necessary to get around Persephone. If you wish to lower either of these below Superb, please contact an administrator. You may not be permitted to keep the extra skill points from this lowering, or else aliens would get a significant skill point advantage over humans.
