Technology among all the space-faring powers is highly advanced compared to the present day. The Twis'rin are the most technologically advanced, followed by the Balorim: the humans rank last among the galactic powers. However, even they have advanced a considerable distance. Technologies such as cyrogenic freezing are routine and easily used in any moderately advanced medical lab, ships are propelled across the galaxy at a significant fraction of the speed of light by immense ion drives, and planets are criss-crossed by high-speed rail lines allowing same-day travel between any two major destinations on a given world. Communication is predominantly based upon faster-than-light transmitters which operate upon the same principles as faster-than-light starship travel; on small colonies such as Persephone, these transmitters are expensive enough that only pre-recorded messages are accepted and time must be booked months in advanced.

Weaponry has also advanced a great deal. Ordinary handguns are potent enough to blast a grapefruit-sized hole in a human's chest. Starship cannons fire great explosive shells the size of two-storey buildings at nine-tenths the speed of light, capable of obliterating most life on a planet if they are not being opposed. Energy weapons are used for many applications but large guns remain projectile-based, with great railguns firing their deadly payload rapidly enough to shame any energy weapon. Meanwhile, large freighters are capable of moving freight in bulk between distant planets, although, particularly for the humans, there simply aren't enough spacecraft, not enough shipyards, and not enough spaceports to develop an extensive freighter system.
