Jeremiah Quaverly Borden the Third, only son of the president and chief executive of Isography Research and Manufacturing Jeremiah Borden the Second (b. 2681), is an underemployed, self-righteous, arrogant malcontent, currently resident on the Earth colony of Persephone.

Borden was born in the year 2725 in the city of London, European Union, the son of the elder Borden and his third wife Lucille Elleth Borden (b. 2703, d. 2744). He was the fourth child in his family, but the first and to date only son. However, his father being a traditional patriarch, he declared that his first and to date only son would be the heir to his company and his considerable fortune. This was a fortunate position to be born in, and Borden promptly went about squandering it.

From birth, the younger Borden was known as an intellectual lightweight, the sort of man who would take his ball and go home at the slightest excuse. He had few friends, and those who spent time with him did so mostly hoping for money. Gaining admission to a prestigious school in England thanks to his father donating a new building, Borden promptly flunked out. Yet his father would not dream of denying Borden his inheritance.

No, the dull rigour of classroom life was not for the young Jeremiah Borden. He was determined to have a life of Adventure, and the wild frontier of Persephone was the perfect place to do so. Outfitted by his father's generous hand and accompanied by a modest army of staffers and guards, Jeremiah Borden III boarded a transport for Persephone, seemingly expecting a noble land of savages, wild beasts, and robbing stagecoaches full of gold on horseback.

Borden is infamously impatient, tempramental, and unpleasant. A poor dinner companion and a worse business partner, Borden combines the unfortunate attributes of ineptitude and an insistence on being in charge - perhaps a key reason why nobody much minded when he went out to the frontier.
