Matul'it is the fourth planet from the star Periodice? in the system of the same name. A large aquatic planet, Matul'it has a small surface of islands and continents, some of which have been submerged by natural processes or deliberate policy. These islands are almost entirely wild, and even most resource extraction is done from the ocean floor.
The planet is best known as the home of the Twis'rin, one of the major species in the galaxy. Approximately nineteen billion Twis'rin live on Matul'it in any one of the many underwater cities dotted across the planet's surface. Although the planet is capable of hosting to a much larger number, the Twis'rin government tends to encourage its nationals to emigrate to its colony worlds and spread their numbers.
Today, Matul'it remains the centre of Twis'rin industry and civilisation, as well as the seat of their government. Alien embassies and living areas are located on stations in orbit, and aliens are prohibited from stepping foot on the planet without the written permission of the Twis'rin government.
